Spencer Houghton critique - Champ Show 13/11/22 (bitches)

Championship Show – 13th November 2022

Many thanks to the hard-working Committee of the Midland Dobermann Club for this opportunity and congratulations on finding such a good venue.

Although I have refereed a good number of Championship Shows, I haven’t judged properly for a few years and thank you to all those exhibitors for putting faith in my opinion and attending

To the breed, obviously class sizes have dropped dramatically over the last few years, which makes judging more challenging to find a type.

Some things have improved, heads, good dark almond shaped eyes, and dentition to name a few, however two things I noticed have changed and not for the better,  the height of the bitches is getting bigger, breeders please remember the standard (65cm/25.5in) should be our aim.

The biggest issue on the day was feet, where have the well arched, compact and cat like feet gone?
