R Thorpe critique - Champ Show 10/11/13 (bitches)

I would like to thank the MDC for inviting me to judge bitches at their Championship Show. I would also like to give my thanks to my two very able stewards, Jane and Andy Davidson, who ensured that all I had to do was judge the exhibits.
I found that a lot of the exhibits were oversized and not in a hard condition. Also a lot of exhibitors failed to realise that a judge is looking at exhibits in the ring not only when they are stacked up before him but also when free standing around the ring, because it is when they are free stood that if an exhibit has faults then they are highlighted.
Exhibitors must also realise that when a judge is checking a dogs head and mouth it is most difficult when the exhibit is moving it’s head to get at the bait.
Movement on the whole was fine but a lot of the exhibits when moving were very close at the back and weak at the front. Care must also be taken to ensure that bitches retain their femininity as quite a few heads were masculine looking.

Ingram’s Jojavik Molly Mobster JW ShCM – Lovely elegant bitch with classy overall outline. Classic head. Wedge shaped head with level planes and correct parallels with dark almond shaped eyes. Good strong front and tight feet. Nice reach of neck flowing into excellent top line. Good depth of chest. Lovely tuck up. Good turn of stifle and excellent rear angulation which enabled her to move with drive. Expertly handled and never stopped showing. My Bitch CC winner and given BIS by the referee Mrs M.
